Sub-Genre Research

Our genre for this project is ‘Horror’. However, we needed to pick a sub-genre which we are going to base all of our research throughout the project around. When choosing our horror sub-genre, we researched numerous different other sub-genres picking out the pros and cons of each of them. Below, you will find a print screen of some of the research that we found:

After doing this research, we were deciding between:

• Action Horror – We thought that action horror would be an interesting and exciting film to make but it may be hard to make the trailer look professional with a low budget.
• Body Horror – We thought that body horror would also be interesting to do but it would be too hard to film.
• Psychological Horror-we thought that psychological horror would be a good sub-genre as we feel that we can portray a possessed character well (a girl). It would also be possible to create a professional looking final piece with a low budget.

  After completing all of our research and weighing up the pro’s and con’s, we decided that our sub-genre is going to be psychological horror.
