Planning Tasks

I have created a list of Pre-Production planning tasks that I will need to create a successful promotional campaign. Below, you will find the list of my pre-production planning tasks:
    • Research into similar products and a potential target audience: this will include me researching my 'horror' sub-genre, by watching trailers and researching different film covers. I will need to ensure that I look at a variety of details, e.g. props, location, make-up and costume as well as the storyline. This will help me to do everything I can to ensure that I meet the needs of the target audience (16-24 year olds)
    • Organisation of Actors, Locations, Costumes and Props: I will need to ensure that all of the actors, props, locations and costumes fit in with my sub-genre, which is ‘psychological horror’. This is one of the most important parts of pre-production planning as all of these are needed to create the trailer.
    • Shortlists, Layouts, Drafting, Scripting and storyboarding: I will need to do this until I am sure that I am meeting the needs and interest of my target audience. Again, the storyline is a very important aspect of the pre-production and I need to ensure that it catches the audience’s attention.
    • Time management: This will help me decide when I need to have everything completed by and keep up to date otherwise I could miss important parts of the production out.
    • Presentation of the research and planning / use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation: It is important that I show the planning of the cameras that are going to be used to create the trailer and the sound recording equipment that will be needed to record sounds for the trailer and the software that will be used to make the products.
    • Communication skills: I will be able to communicate with my target audience through my blog and get their feedback and opinions on everything that I draft as all of the work that I complete will be uploaded onto my blog.
    • Understanding of the combination of main product and ancillary texts: It is important that I plan and understand this as they need to meet all of the needs of the target audience and fit in with my sub-genre. This will include my trailer, magazine cover and movie poster.
    • Understand the significance of audience text: The audience will be able to communicate with me through my blog and comment and give their opinions, which will help me to meet all audience needs.
